♟ memory 021.

Memory regained: Significant Neutral - Childhood montage (childhood, implied in chapter 2)
Date: Day 84
Game won: Haunt's game

Memory:
This is a general montage memory - starting from when she's about 5 and ending probably when she's around 13 or so, encompassing most of her childhood (although not specific events she'll regain later).

This memory includes a lot of what her life was like as a member of the [ name redacted ] Family, Japan's largest yakuza syndicate, and much of what it was like to be gokudo. This includes the specific terminology used - they refer to themselves as ninkyō dantai, or charatable organizations, rather than bōryokudan/violence groups - as well as the rigid hierarchy and rule structure.

Rules all members of the Family had to follow include things such as no using/selling drugs, no stealing, no robbing, no fornicating, no underage drinking, no underage driving, etc. BASICALLY A VERY STRINGENT MORAL CODE...one the oyabun was willing to enforce by chopping off the fingers of those who disobeyed. Considering how his family was often brought along to these 'enforcements' (and, by proxy, Peko came along), she learns pretty early just to shut up and obey the rules.

There are some other yakuza things in there as well - including a proper yakuza apology (seppuku or belly cutting, to show that you truly were sorry) and the "true definition" of what it means to be gokudo (to be willing to kill even the one you love, to fight at any given opportunity). You also get fairly used to serious fights, gunshot wounds, dead bodies, and the like, being that you tend to see them so frequently.

In addition to yakuza things, there's also general familiarity with the oyabun's family, since she spends the majority of this memory tagging along with/guarding his heir. There's the oyabun and his wife, a very imposing and angry couple who see her as mere property; the young mistress, who grows to be every bit her parents' daughter in her willingness to bully and manipulate people; and the young master himself, a young boy who is surprisingly soft-hearted considering the rest of his family.

...As the years pass, though, the young blond boy grows into a younger version of someone familiar. Time also shows the two of you drifting apart, with him seeming to resent your presence more and more every day

ALSO as an added note there's definite aspects of Japanese culture/Japanese society in here as well, including being forced to read some of the more famous texts and such.

What was learned:
→ ....I work for a yakuza family. I suppose that makes sense, given that I was a bodyguard/hitwoman.
→ I suppose this explains rather neatly why such things are so improper. That's the belief of the Family, and so it is.
→ ...........I had a bad feeling it would be him, though.....at least I know how to apologize for my impudence.

Effects:
+1000 shame and dishonor on her cow for daring to think the heir to the family could like her...
+ general knowledge about being yakuza and yakuza things
