'The kitties that came to play at the dojo, the puppy our neighbors had when I was a kid… even the sparrow I tried to raise… The animals all sense the ferocity inside me and run away.'
So this is a memory montage! First of trying to raise a bird and it flying away from her as soon as it can, then attempting to pet the Kuzuryuu family dog and it snarling and trying to bite her, and then lastly attempting to pet some cats outside the dojo she trains at and them hissing and running away.
...The last one ends with little!Kuzu coming to pull her away, and making a comment about how cats aren't even that great anyway, so she shouldn't care about it.
